We Are the World Production @ Clayton Park School

Our school production takes place this Wednesday night at 7.00 pm.  Please begin arriving at Clayton Park School from 6.00pm, and arrive no later than 6.30pm.  It would be a good idea to bring something to keep you occupied during the performance (books, drawing, quiet games), as there will be long wait times backstage.

*Girls: if possible, please come with some eye make-up applied (eye liner and eye shadow) and come with a lipstick in a bag with your name on it.  One of our parents, Michelle Hassall, has kindly offered to apply the lipstick prior to the performance.  The make up is entirely optional for families, but would be appreciated to enhance the overall look of the performance.

**Costumes: please arrive at Clayton Park School dressed in full costume.  I have sent costumes home with students in named plastic bags on Monday afternoon.  Some students may choose to wear a plain black or white t-shirt or singlet underneath their costume.  Girls may wear tights or leggings under their costumes, boys may wear plain coloured shorts.

***Dinner: please ensure you've had something to eat before arriving at Clayton Park School at 6.00 pm.  You may choose to bring some extra snacks and a drink to keep you going as well.

Taekwon-do!!!

Some video from our special P.E. lessons in Taekwon-do.  Taekwon-do is a Korean martial art that means 'the art of hand and foot fighting'.

We all know that the skills we're learning in Taekwon-do are only to be practised during our lessons.

Room 13's Term 4 Cultural Performance

Room 13's Cultural Performance will be 'A Bollywood Film Set'.  We will welcome the audience and the travelling family to Mumbai, India, on the set of a Bollywood Film.   A director and his camera crew are getting ready to film the big dance scene.

A Youtube video of the dance we are going to recreate is below.  Please watch the video at home and practise the moves so we can quickly make this a great performance for our families to watch.

Being Respectful at Reremoana School

Room 13 put our brains together to make a list of what Being Respectful looks like throughout the day at school.  This is what we came up with:

Being Respectful Towards Teachers
  • Follow the teacher’s instructions
  • Treat relievers how you’d treat your normal teacher
  • Listen to the teacher
  • Speak politely to teachers

Being Respectful in the Classroom
  • Clean up after yourself
  • Respect other people’s belongings
  • Walk around the room
  • Leave toys at home
  • Be careful with classroom materials
  • Look after your own stationery
  • Use the furniture properly

Being Respectful Towards Classmates
  • Speak politely to each other
  • Include others in your play
  • Treat your classmates the way you want to be treated
  • Help classmates when they are confused
  • Say only nice things about each other
  • Keep your hands to yourselves
  • If you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all

Being Respectful with Equipment
  • Put things back where they belong
  • We do not throw classroom equipment around
  • Sharing is caring
  • Use equipment how it is meant to be used

Being Respectful in the Playground
  • Keep your hands to yourself
  • Include others in your games
  • Look after others if they get hurt
  • Speak politely to each other
  • Let others have a turn (sharing is caring)

Being Respectful towards our Friends
  • Include your friends in your games
  • Keep your hands to yourself
  • Speak calmly to your friends, there is no need to yell
  • Look after your friends
  • Encourage your friends

We've been learning about Acting Safely in different parts of our school.  We planned some short dramas to show what it looks like when we are Acting Safely, and when we are Not Acting Safely, around the school.

Riley's letter to Miss Harland

Dear Miss Harland

I think the Y4's should be able to go on the Y5 Gurkha.

Firstly because the year 4's really want to go on and what if they are playing with a year 5? Then they won't be able to play with them on the year 5 Gurkha, and then they will be lonely.

I also think we should make another court, because when we want to play on the court, we can't!!!! Because the big kids are playing games on the court and they're using the whole court.

Thank you Miss Harland for reading my letter

From Riley.
